Ukrainian Easter Egg Decorating Course Offered

Learn a centuries-old folk art at the Hub

Press release

Area residents can learn the art of Ukrainian Easter Egg Decorating in a four-week series beginning on Tuesday, March 17, from 6:30 to 8 PM, held at The Andover Community Hub.
There is a fee of $10 for the series, and participants are asked to bring a half-dozen blown-out eggs to work with. Andover resident Gisela Darling will lead the series.
Ukrainian Easter eggs, or Pysankas, are a centuries-old folk art in which beeswax is used to draw decorative designs and traditional symbols on blown-out eggshells, which are then dyed. Once decorated, the eggs can be saved and used as holiday decorations for years.
Pre-registration is required for the series in order to have enough materials available. To register, contact Gisela Darling at 735-5681.
The Andover Hub is located at 157 Main Street, next door to Pizza Chef. For more information about The Hub and to be added to the ongoing email list, contact TheAndoverHub@nullgmail.com.
