Mount Sunapee Resort Offers New Adventure Camp in July

Five-day session focuses on aerial skills for skiers and boarders

Press release

The new Mount Sunapee Freestyle & Adventure Camp draws on Mount Sunapee’s skilled winter freestyle staff, new AcroBag airbag, and the resort’s Adventure Park to create a one-of-a-kind five-day camp experience for young athletes. This is a day-camp for both mogul and park skiers or snowboarders who want to hone their aerial maneuvers. The camp is for athletes ages 9 through 15, and there are two five-day sessions scheduled July 8 through 12, and July 15 though 19.

Each day the schedule begins with a warm-up, followed by a strength and conditioning segment. The second half of the morning is an aerial session into the AcroBag airbag, where athletes will be coached on their aerial skills. The AcroBag is 50’ X 50,’ and was an extremely popular feature in the Bob Skinner’s 603 Terrain Park this past winter. The AcroBag will be accessed by a ramp covered with an artificial snow surface. Mid-day there will be swimming and lunch at the Lake Sunapee State Beach.

During the afternoon participants will be able to tackle some of the activities in the Adventure Park, including the two and a half hour Canopy Zip-Line Tour, the Aerial Challenge Course, and the 18-hole Championship Disc Golf Course. There will also be an afternoon hike to beautiful Lake Solitude, near the summit of Mount Sunapee. The week will culminate with a fun airbag competition which parents, family, and friends are invited to watch.

“This camp is really unique,” says Mike Lovell, camp director. “While there are a few other summer freestyle camps across the country, I can’t think of one that has a full-blown Adventure Park and State Beach right on campus. These young athletes are really going to have a fun week.” Mike Lovell is the Head Freestyle Coach for the Mount Sunapee Alpine Program.

The Best Western Sunapee Lake Lodge and Mountain Edge Resort & Spa at Sunapee, which are located by the entrance to Mount Sunapee Resort, are offering campers and their families’ special lodging rates during camp weeks.
