Wallace H. Scott, November 1, 2013

Wallace H. Scott, 87, of South Short Street, died at his home on November 1, 2013 surrounded by his family after a short illness.

He was born in Derry, New Hampshire on January 1, 1926, the son of Edward and Hazel (Dugan) Scott. He graduated from Pinkerton Academy and served in the US Navy during World War II.

Mr. Scott worked for B&M Railroad for five years and then did mill work in Andover for seven years. He worked for Rivco in Penacook and from 1977 to 1992 was manager of the Alan Thompson Insurance Agency in Andover. He worked for Cricenti’s Market in the winters and at the Country Club of New Hampshire in summers.

Mr. Scott moved to Andover in 1953 and was a member of the Andover Congregational Church and also sang in the choir. He had been a Cubmaster, an Assistant Scout Master, Church Treasurer for 25 years, served as Selectman for one term, had been a member of the School Board for 15 years, and helped start the Babe Ruth team.

Mr. Scott was a member and Past President of the Andover Lions Club, Past Commander of the Crosby-Gilbert American Legion Post, President for two terms of the Franklin High Booster Club, an original member of the Andover Planning Board, and served three terms on the Andover Budget Committee.

He liked to golf and enjoyed his vegetable and flower gardens. His happiest times were at home with his family.

Members of his family surviving include his wife of 58 years, Frie Scott of Andover; three sons, Edward T. Scott of Lake Carmel, New York, Jeffrey W. Scott of Anchorage, Alaska, and Charles W. Scott of San Diego, California; a daughter, Elaine Ann Park of Whitinsville, Massachusetts; four grandchildren, James, Allison, Misha, and Alex; one niece and two nephews. He is pre-deceased by his sister Helen and his brother Robert.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 5 at 10:30 AM at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lake Sunapee Region VNA and Hospice, PO Box 2209, New London 03257.
