Dear AEMS Family,

Tonight is the night! The K-4 Spring Concert begins at 6:30. Students should go to their classrooms upon arrival this evening. Classrooms are open and supervised at 6:20. The concert will be short but packed with enthusiastic singing. It will definitely be a fun evening!

If you are in the building for the concert tonight please check lost and found. We have lots of snow gear still there. We are trying to rid our building of winter clothes and focus on the nice weather days ahead.

The AEMS Kindness Club had their last meeting for the 2013-14 school year on Monday. They plan to reconvene next year. I would like to thank the group for all the thoughtful gestures and activities they brought to our school community and beyond. They were an enthusiastic group of students who channeled and spread their positive energy to others.

I have updated and attached a list of important spring dates to this letter.

SHARE Day is a month away and the excitement is building! Grades 3-8 have returned their workshop request forms and the planning is underway. There is a display near the office of some of the workshop examples. Volunteers are always needed. Please consider spending the day with us!

Thank you to Haley Adams, Erin Frost, Emily Lance, and Bekka Stearns for sharing their impressive Senior Projects with the middle school students today. They also gave the 6th-8th grade students very wise advice for high school success.

Classes have spent time this week sprucing up our school grounds. It was a tough winter for our school grounds and there is enough cleanup work for everyone. Our front steps literally fell apart this winter. Repairs to the front steps are planned for the start of vacation.

Last month at the Andover Annual School District Meeting funds were appropriated to fund architect / engineering fees for a sustainability study to determine appropriate options for facilities maintenance and other district needs. We are on track with that process. The board will review submitted proposals this afternoon at a 4:30 meeting in the AEMS library. Interviews with selected companies will take place in early May.

If you haven’t settled your lunch account please do so tomorrow. Thanks!

When students return from vacation on April 28th we will be outside in the morning before the school day begins. Our gym walking has been a great start to the day but will now only happen on bad weather mornings. Atarting Monday the kindergarten students will be on the “big” playground with their teachers before the school day begins. 1st – 4th students should go to the left side of the building and out back and 5th-8th students will go on the right side to the back of the building. There will be supervision behind the school beginning at 7:30.

Have a wonderful vacation!!! Get well rest rested and come back energized as there is lots of learning still ahead!

Sincerely,

Jane Slayton
