Marjorie E. Huntoon, 88, of Danbury, died on April 17, 2014, at the New London Hospital.

She was born on March 8, 1926, the daughter of Frank and Ardena (Ordway) Currier. She was a native and lifelong resident of Danbury.

Marjorie graduated from Andover High School and worked as a switchboard operator in Danbury. She also worked in the mica mines and volunteered during World War II as a civilian airplane spotter.

For over 40 years she worked at Ragged Mountain and had a kitchen named in her honor. She was very proud of her life on the farm and of the years of hard work alongside her husband to keep it going. Marjorie was also the town correspondent for the Record Enterprise.

She was a 72-year member and Master of Blazing Star Grange and member of Pomona, State, and National Grange. She was Past Pomona of the New Hampshire State Grange. Several will remember Marjorie for her love of composing poetry.

She married Willard E. Huntoon in 1953, and he died in 1988. She is also predeceased by two brothers, Alvin and Ernest Currier.

Members of her family surviving include a son and his wife, Alan and Becky Huntoon, and a daughter and her husband, Donna and Phil Sprague, all of Danbury; five grandchildren, Rebecca Huntoon, Dustin Sprague, Brianna, Samantha, and William Huntoon; and cousins.

Friends called on April 22 at the Chadwick Funeral Home in New London, with services conducted by the Grange at 7:30 PM. A graveside service was held on April 23 in Baptist Cemetery, Danbury.
