Boston Civic Orchestra Returns with Child Violinist

June 28 at Colby-Sawyer College

Press release

The Boston Civic Symphony (BCS), now in its 90th year, makes its third appearance as part of the Summer Music Series. The players are exceptionally talented students and amateur musicians who perform a wide variety of music from all musical genres – Baroque to Modern.

A primary objective of the orchestra is to provide an orchestral setting to train young musicians who are pursuing professional careers. The orchestra has a tradition of presenting young solo performers. Summer Music Associates concertgoers will remember the truly remarkable performance by 13-year-old violinist Ilana Zaks who returns with the BCS this season. Children’s and students’ tickets for all the Summer Music Associates concerts are only $5, and we hope that many families will take advantage of this low price.

The BCS program will include Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture and Violin Concerto in E minor featuring 13-year-old soloist Ilana Zaks; and Beethoven’s Symphony #8 in F Major. The concert will take place on Saturday, June 28, at 7:30 PM at the Sawyer Center Theater at Colby-Sawyer College.

Tickets are $25 for adults or $5 for students and are available by mail or phone, at SummerMusicAssociates.com, at the door, or (by cash or check only) at Morgan Hill Bookstore, Tatewell Gallery, and the Lake Sunapee Region Chamber of Commerce.
