LRGH Needs Volunteer Drivers for Courtesty Cart

Six-passenger golf cart operates May to October

Press release

Spring is here, and summer is right around the corner, which means the Lakes Region General Hospital (LRGH) Courtesy Cart is ramping up its shuttle service, and drivers are needed.

The LRGH Auxiliary purchased the six-passenger golf carts to serve as a free Courtesy Shuttle to transport patients and visitors from their parking spaces to the main entrance of LRGH and the Medical Office Building. The service is particularly helpful not only to patients or visitors who have difficulty with mobility, but also to those with several items to carry or children accompanying them.

The cart operates from May until October, and volunteers may choose between two shifts: 8 AM to noon; or noon to 3 PM. Volunteer drivers need to be friendly, reliable, and comfortable driving a golf cart.

Over the years, the Courtesy Cart has been used to transport literally thousands of patients and visitors, and it truly is a valued service for those in need of it. If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer driver, please contact LRGHealthcare Volunteer Coordinator Darcy Peary at 737-6720 or DPeary@nullLRGH.org.
