School Board Selects Firm for Sustainability Study

Katie Keyser joins SAU 46 staff

By Andover School Board

Marinace Architects of New Hampton have been chosen by the Andover School Board for a “sustainability study to determine appropriate options for facilities maintenance and other district needs.” The study was supported by voters at the recent Andover School District annual meeting.

Marinace Architects has specialized in educational facilities since 1974 and built a reputation for building well-planned, efficient facilities with an emphasis on excellent design, durable construction, and curriculum-driven plans resulting from extensive community involvement and feedback. Letters of recommendation were provided from Newfound Area School District, Pinkerton Academy, Bedford School District, and Keene School District.

Community input will soon be sought at public meetings, and the School Board will welcome your input. Detail facilities and curriculum studies began on May 20.

New Attorney

Attorney James O’Shaughnessy, now of the Drummond-Woodson’s School Law Group, has been selected by the Andover School Board for representation in legal matters. This selection was made after interviewing candidates to succeed Attorney John Teague of Upton and Hatfield in anticipation of his retirement on June 30. Attorney O’Shaughnessy is familiar to Andover residents and the School Board as assistant to Attorney Teague during Attorney Teague’s tenure.

Changes at SAU 46

The School Administrative Unit (SAU) 46 Superintendent Transition Team met on April 28 to review important items necessary to a smooth transition of leadership in the following positions: SAU 46 Administrative Assistant and the departure of our MVHS principal, Mike Jette. The challenge of these changes requires clear priority setting of ever-changing needs.

Mike Jette, Merrimack Valley High School principal, accepted the position of assistant superintendent of the Bedford School District and will start in his new position on July 1. In 10 years as principal at MVHS, Mike has led the high school through major renovations and the implementation of the International Baccalaureate program. He helped MV become a better high school and supported individual students to further their education and career pursuits.

Katie Keyser, Andover resident and a former member of the Andover School Board, has been selected, from a large number of candidates, by Mark MacLean, our new superintendent, to be the SAU 46 Administrative Assistant. The scope of this position may be increased to include communications and public relations. She will be succeeding Dolores Moore, who will be retiring on June 30.
