AE/MS students were treated to a fast-paced and fun professional performance on SHARE Day afternoon on May 16. The TIGER ensemble from Plymouth State University performed Green TIGERRRR and shared key concepts that students could use to take action to improve the environment. Our goal is to promote environmental responsibility in our school community.

AE/MS has hosted TIGER before and knew their presentation would be top-notch. The previous performances included themes on bullying, friendships, and inclusion.

Green TIGERRRR was the title of the performance. TIGERRRR is an acronym and each letter played an important part in the performance and was a key environmnetal concept for the students.

  • Take Action
  • I Can
  • Go Green
  • Energy Efficiency
  • Reduce
  • Reuse
  • Recycle
  • Respect the Environment and Yourself

While students and adults doubled over in laughter during the performance, they were also getting an important message.

There were SHARE Day workshops in the morning that reinforced the environmental message. Kindergarten students reused old CDs for a Fish Workshop. Grades 1 and 2 used reused materials (newspaper, etc. ) for the Recycled Painting workshop. The third- through sixth-grade Marble Workshop re-purposed paper towel tubes, cardboard, etc. to create intricate, elaborate, and imaginative marble raceways.

Students were also encouraged to bring their own water bottles for SHARE Day rather than counting on plastic water bottles being distributed. AE/MS recently replaced one of the main water fountains with a new fountain that has a faucet for filling water bottles. This makes it much easier for students to keep their own water bottles filled.

We will continue to remind and reinforce the ideas learned from Green TIGERRRR within our school environment. Children will be sharing the message throughout the community as well.
