Boat Registrations Up Significantly in Second Year

Registering locally adds to Town revenue

By Joanna Sumner, Town Clerk

Last year at this time I reported in the Beacon that the Town Clerk’s office had collected $200 for the Town in boat registrations. This year, we have collected $836.84. It is not a lot, but it adds to the Town revenue and hopefully will grow each year as more Andover residents realize that they can register boats at the Town Clerk’s office.

License Your Dogs

Our office becomes very busy during the dog licensing period. We mailed 700 reminder letters, updated rabies information, licensed 459 dogs, and mailed the tags out. The Post Office often returns the mailed tags and asks for more postage – but not always.

We still have 233 dogs on record that have not been licensed. If you have not licensed your dog, late fees have begun to accrue. Please remember to get your dog’s tags.

Statistics

Other statistics include motor vehicle registrations. We have completed 1,761 motor vehicle transactions, which includes both new registrations and renewals, for a total revenue of $165,614.

New Legislation

We learned recently that in January of 2015, all cars manufactured after 2000 will require a title. All vehicles manufactured before the year 2000 will remain title-exempt.

Have a fun summer!
