Poetry at the Fells: Explore the Fells with New Hampshire Poets Sunday, September 28, 2-4 PM (rain date, Sunday October 5) Journey through the Fells’ beautiful grounds and experience poetry like never before! Granite State poets published by New Hampshire publisher Hobblebush Books will read and discuss their work at various scenic spots around the Fells. Poets will be available between readings to talk one-on-one and they will be signing books throughout the event. Admission is free for members non and non members pay site admission. Bulbs to Blooms Thursday, October 2, 1-3pm Prepare for winter’s short days and snow-filled gardens by planting flowering bulbs to bloom inside. Fall is the best time to force bulbs, and this workshop by Greg Berger of Spring Ledge Farm will demonstrate tried and true methods of bulb forcing. Requested donation $10. Registration required. Fall Foliage – Collecting & Preserving Colorful Autumn Leaves! Monday, October 6, 1–3 PM This short, easy 1-hour walk led by a Forest Society naturalist will identify the most common deciduous trees at The Fells. Learn how and why leaves change colors each fall. Learn tree lore including wood use by people and food for wildlife. Gather your own collection of colorful leaves. Learn and see how to easily preserve your leaves. We’ll offer suggestions for festive autumn decorations or seasonal greetings to send to loved ones from the colorful autumn forests of New Hampshire. A family-friendly program. Fungi Foray for Beginners Sunday, October 12, 1-4pm Mushroom enthusiasts, Jill & George Montgomery, with assistance from the Montshire Mushroom Club, will present an introduction to fungi for beginners followed by a foray amid the rich Fells woodlands and ending with an identification session.
