Do you enjoy playing or listening to live music? Reading or listening to locally-written fiction or poetry? Showing or supporting the work of local artists, craftspersons, and photographers?

Beginning in January, there will be new opportunities for all of the above in Andover.

On November 14, sixteen local residents met at the Highland Lake Grange Hall in East Andover to discuss the possibility of creating a regular venue for local music and the arts. After some enthusiastic idea-sharing, it was decided to start the “Andover Community Coffeehouse,” a monthly music venue for local musicians, at the Highland Lake Grange Hall beginning on the third Friday in January (January 16) from 7 to 9 PM and continuing on the third Friday of each month.

Initial plans are that food, coffee, and other non-alcoholic drinks will be sold, and there will be a featured musician or band as well as an open mic for part of the evening.

In between, on the first Friday of each month beginning in February, an alternate community night is planned that will feature such events as a film, a speaker, a poetry reading, an art or craft showing, etc. These events are also scheduled to be held at the Grange Hall, which is located at the corner of Franklin Highway (Route 11) and Chase Hill Road in East Andover.

If you would be interested in helping to plan upcoming events or could volunteer in any way, please come join us. For more information or if you are interested in performing, contact Paul Currier at 735-5280 or PCurrier@nulltds.net.
