Press Release

For Immediate Release:

First Friday Gallery Night, February 6, 2015

The community is invited to the Lake Sunapee Region ~ Center for the Arts “First Friday” program on February 6, 2015 from 5 PM to 7 PM. Gallery Openings and the artist’s receptions will be taking place at several New London locations. All Center for the Arts First Friday events are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Whipple Hall will host twelve area artists for this second Members Only exhibit. CFA plans a total of four of these member exhibits during 2015. Supporting new and emerging artists is one more reason for becoming a member of Center for the Arts. In turn CFA appreciates this partnership with the New London town Recreation Department.

Diane MacPherson will display her work at the New London Inn. Her studio is in Auburn, New Hampshire where she both creates art and also teaches art classes. Diane works in both pastels and in oils. Her work focuses on landscapes, using sketches and preliminary painting done in plein air. The paintings are finished in her studio. “I love being outside, and painting gives me the opportunity to see what nature has to offer us.” Diane is also known for her Pet Portraits, done in pastels. The pet portraits have become increasingly popular and are found in homes across New England. Diane holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the New Hampshire Institute of Art.

Gary Robinson, a classical guitarist, will accompany Diane for this opening. He studied classical guitar with Miguel Abloniz in Milan, Italy. Upon his return to the United States, he began teaching and performing. Gary became a member of the Colby-Sawyer faculty, a position he held for forty years. His musical preferences include music from Renaissance to Latin bossa nova to the blues.

Lake Sunapee Bank will display art work created by students from Kearsarge Regional High School. The students are looking forward to assist with hanging their work, as well as seeing it on display for the community to enjoy.

Make plans to attend the opening events for these galleries. If you cannot, please know that the art will be available for viewing from the opening on February 6 through April 28.
