Wilmot Community Assoc 2015 Winter Carnival Saturday, Feb 7 and Sunday, Feb 8

Snowman Contest a Feature

Press Release

The Wilmot Community Association (WCA) will sponsor a Winter Carnival on Saturday, February 7 and Sunday February 8 at several venues in town.

Starting January 1, Wilmot residents should warm up their creativity and craft a snowman or other critter from that icy white stuff that’s covering the ground right now. Take a photo and submit it by February 4 by e-mail or snail mail along with your name, age, address, and phone number. Winners will be announced at the potluck dinner February 7 at the WCA’s Red Barn.

During the day on February 7, enjoy a discount on cross-country skiing at Pine Hill Cross-Country Ski Area, 220 Mountain Road, New London. More information is available from John Schlosser at 381-8685.

Starting at 5 PM February 7 join your friends and neighbors for a potluck supper, Snowman Contest awards ceremony, and children’s movie with a winter theme at the WCA’s Red Barn, 64 Village Road, Wilmot. The movie, shown in collaboration with the Wilmot Public Library, will start at 6:15 PM.

Join in several outdoor winter activities including Slebogganning from noon to 4 PM Sunday, February 8 at Camp Wilmot on North Wilmot Road. Hot beverages and snacks will be sold.

The event will feature Sleboggan races for teens and young adults and guided Sleboggan train rides for children. Sleboggans, which are made in Wilmot, add to the thrill of a toboggan ride by allowing the rider to steer and brake on his or her downhill ride.

The WCA, established in 1963, is a membership-based, not-for-profit organization that brings neighbors together in Wilmot by providing the facilities for social, educational and recreational programs. It owns and operates the WCA Red Barn, a community center, and Timothy Patten Park, a beach and playground on Shindagan Road.

The WCA’s office in the Red Barn is open from 9 AM to noon Monday through Thursday and by appointment.

Please RSVP for the potluck supper so the WCA can set up enough tables and chairs.
