Monetary Awards to College Students

Three students recognized this year for their achievements

Press Release

The Wilmot Ladies Aid Society (WLAS) wishes to congratulate its three Merit Award winners for 2014. The WLAS Merit Award Program gives monetary awards to Wilmot residents to help them with their college expenses. These awards are given annually based on exceptional character, scholastic achievement, and community involvement. The program is funded by projects such as the society’s famous Holiday Cookie Walk and bandstand suppers hosted by the society during the summer months.

This year three students were recognized for their achievements: Tess Jewell a freshman at Colby- Sawyer College in New London, New Hampshire, Amber Young a freshman at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia and Jordan Barthol a sophomore at Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont. “We are so proud to be able to support these outstanding young people from Wilmot,” said WLAS president, Connie Jordan.

Other activities of the society include co-hosting the popular Senior Luncheons at the WCA the third Thursday each month, supporting Wilmot’s Welfare Department, and the WCA.

All are welcome to attend the society’s monthly lunch meetings at the WCA at noon on the first Thursday of the month beginning in April. Call Lindy at 526 6376 for more information.
