Andover’s Larry Chase in New London Gallery Night

First Friday event on February 6

Press release

The community is invited to the Lake Sunapee Region Center for the Arts’ First Friday program on Friday, February 6, from 5 to 7 PM. Gallery openings and artists’ receptions will be taking place at several New London locations. All Center for the Arts’ First Friday events are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Whipple Gallery will host 12 area artists, including Andover photographer Larry Chase. Other artists include Debbie Campbell, Harriet Fingeroth, Rick Fingeroth, Ludmilla Gayvoronsky, Molly Leith, Kathy Lowe Bloch, Tom Pirozzoli, Jonathan Rose, Yvonne Shukovsky, David Tibbetts, and Tatiana Yanovskaya-Sink.

Supporting new and emerging artists is one more reason for becoming a member of Center for the Arts (CFA). In turn, CFA appreciates this partnership with the New London town Recreation Department.

Diane MacPherson will display her work at the New London Inn. Her studio is in Auburn, New Hampshire, where she both creates art and also teaches art classes.

Diane works in both pastels and in oils. Her work focuses on landscapes, using sketches and preliminary painting en plein air. Diane is also known for her pet portraits, done in pastels, which have become increasingly popular across New England. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the New Hampshire Institute of Art.

Gary Robinson, a classical guitarist, will accompany Diane for this opening. He studied classical guitar with Miguel Abloniz in Milan, Italy. He is both a teacher and a performer.

Gary is a member of the Colby-Sawyer faculty, a position he has held for 40 years. His musical preferences include music from the Renaissance to Latin bossa nova to the blues.

Lake Sunapee Bank will display art work created by students from Sunapee High School. The students are looking forward to assisting with hanging their work as well as seeing it on display for the community to enjoy. Also, a Sunapee High School keyboardist will provide background music at this Lake Sunapee Bank opening.

Make plans to attend the opening events for these galleries. Please know that the art will be available for viewing from the opening on February 6 through April 28.

All galleries for this evening are located in downtown New London. Whipple Gallery is located on the corner of Main Street and Seamans Road. New London Inn is located at 140 Main Street. The Lake Sunapee Bank exhibit is located at 321 Main Street.
