Proctor Hosts Special Olympics Play Days

Connects with special-needs kids age two through eight

By Scott Allenby, Proctor Academy

Beginning this spring, a group of Proctor students led by Burke Hildner ’16 will be hosting Special Olympics play days for local families with children aged two through eight who have special needs. More than a dozen Proctor students have received training by Special Olympics and are eager to use Proctor’s facilities to connect with the local families.

When asked why he wanted to lead this program, Burke replied, “I chose to get involved with the program when members from the Young Athletes Program and Special Olympics of New Hampshire came and spoke to our school last year. I have a passion for community service, and when my advisor spoke to me about possibly building a connection with the program here on campus, I immediately knew that I wanted to be involved.”

He added, “I hope that this program will inspire Proctor and its students to stay involved with the Young Athletes Program as well as get involved with other organizations just like it for many more years to come. The impact on our lives, and their lives, will be significant!”
