Wendell Marsh Hike in Sunapee on January 26

Press release

A 1,000 acre unfragmented block of forest land, wetland, streams, and fields lie between New Hampshire Route 11 and Ryder Corner Road in Sunapee. Join the Sunapee Conservation Commission and Ausbon Sargent on Saturday, January 26, from 1 to 3:30 PM as we explore 136 acres of this area, which will be the first conserved land in this block.

We’ll walk along a recreational trail and bush-whack our way off-trail to Wendell Marsh, learning about trees, forest, and wildlife habitat as we walk. Participants will also learn about the efforts to conserve this property and what remains to be done to complete the project.

Bring snowshoes if conditions warrant it. Dress warmly in layers with good boots. Refreshments will be served.

Participants should be in good physical condition, able to walk up and down hills in potentially slippery conditions, and be willing to walk off-trail. Please RSVP with your name, the names of all in your party, your phone number, and e-mail by contacting our office at 526-6555 or NSmith@nullausbonsargent.org. Shortly before the field trip, we will provide directions and parking information based on the current snow conditions.
