Madison Powers Receives Award in Organic Chemistry

Researching proteins and cancer cells

At Colgate University's annual Awards Convocation on April 28 in Hamilton, New York, Madison Powers received the American Chemical Society's Undergraduate Award in Organic Chemistry. This award, usually presented to a member of Colgate's Senior Class, was awarded to Madison for his outstanding work in Organic Chemistry. Madison, a 2013 graduate of Proctor Academy, currently is a sophomore at Colgate University majoring in Bio/Chem. He received the Dean's Award each of his first two years for maintaining a 3.3 or better GPA. He currently holds a 3.69 GPA. Madison will be interning this summer at Colgate University, researching proteins and their effects on cancer cells. He has also been accepted to study aboard next spring in Dublin, Ireland.
