Fourth of July Fundraising was a Huge Success

Hope to hit $7,000 in canvassing donations

By Judy Perreault, Fourth of July Committee

Once again Andover residents and friends came through with generous donations toward Andover’s annual Fourth of July celebration. We had a great response from our summer folks as well as from our year-round residents. We even had checks from people who used to live here and remembered our Fourth of July celebration.

The Fourth of July celebration is the one event that involves almost every organization in town.

As of June 15, we had received $6,805. We didn’t have a goal in mind when we started, but hopefully we will make it to $7,000 by the Fourth.

We did miss a few streets during canvassing, as there was a shortage of canvassers, so if you didn’t get a personal visit or a letter, please think about making a donation on the Fourth. There will be a collection jar on the Fourth of July Committee’s raffle table on the Village Green.

A big thanks goes to the following people who did the street-by-street collecting: Roxanne Braley, Dave Bates and Donna Pourby, Joyce Bourdon, Shirley Currier, Jim Danforth, Nancy Emerson, Beth Frost, Don Gross, Gretchen Hildebrand, George Kidder, Scott Kidder, Ethany McMahon, Bonnie Morris, Ty Morris, Ginny Newton, Kit Norris, Judy Perreault, Alita and Doug Phelps, Cecelia Richardson, Melanie Shaw, Jane Slayton, Wood Sutton, and Darlene Tilton. Some of these folks have been collecting for over 20 years!

We also had support from members of the business community who took ads in our program, as well as ads from well-wishers. Shirley Currier and Irene Jewett did a fantastic job contacting these folks.

The Fourth of July Committee will be selling raffle tickets on the Fourth on the Village Green and at the Andover Lions Club’s Pancake Breakfast. You could possibly win a garden lap quilt made and donated by Linda Barnes from The Constant Quilter, plus a garden basket, an Italian basket, and two $25 Market Basket gift certificates. Our thanks to Market Basket for donating one of the two gift certificates.

Again, thanks to everyone who donated not only money but their time and talents. Without your support, Andover would not have a Fourth of July celebration!

Donations received after the deadline for listing donors in the Fourth of July program: Hannah and Elliot Asbury; Kimberly Hallquist; Janine and Timothy Hannibal; Margaret Lind; and Cynthia and Benjamin Seaver.
