History Mystery: Who Can You Identify in This Photo?

Mellie Flanders and the Ladies Aid

This photo, from Rita Norander, is labeled “Ladies Aid at Anna Roberts' house when Mellie Flanders was 80.” Rita writes: “Anna Roberts lived on Chase Hill Road in the last house on the left before the intersection with Emery Road (the former Chase house). Mellie Eastman Flanders was Grace Chaffee's mother, and the first teacher at the Dyers Crossing School. Mellie was born in 1865, so the picture would have been taken in 1945. I assume that Mellie is in the front row, the second from the left. In the back row, second from the left, is Ellen Hersey Schoolcraft Taylor. She was my great-aunt, and this picture was taken from one of her family albums. Back row, sixth from the left, is Marie Nelson Rising.” Can you identify anyone else in this photo? Let the Beacon know and we’ll share the information.
