Twangtown Paramours Perform at Franklin Opera House

Americana/folk from a husband and wife duo

Press release

The Twangtown Paramours, an acoustic Americana/Folk duo from Nashville, will be performing on Saturday, October 17 at 7:30 PM at the Franklin Opera House in Franklin.

This award-winning husband-and wife team has been delighting audiences across the country with their superbly crafted songs, fine musicianship, top-notch singing, and humorous banter. Audiences can expect a personal and engaging concert full of songs alternately poetic, socially conscious, and funny.

The music of the Twangtown Paramours has been called “Sophisticated Americana,” and is a hybrid of the Nashville and Austin music scenes. The basis of their musical style originates in the country music capital in which they live, but their lyrics are often influenced by poetic Texas songwriters. The duo consists of Mike Lewis, a successful Nashville songwriter who sometimes plays upright bass for Jimmie Dale Gilmore, and MaryBeth Zamer, who sang background vocals for the late Eva Cassidy.

In 2012, the duo won Wildflower’s Michael Terry People’s Choice award in Richardson, Texas, and in 2013 and 2011, they were finalists in the prestigious Kerrville New Folk contest in Kerrville, Texas. The Twangtown Paramours play well-known venues across the country and have opened for Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Claire Lynch, Kim and Reggie Harris, and Joe Ely, amongst others.

The latest Twangtown Paramours album, The Promise of Friday Night was #2 in July, 2012 on the Folk DJ Chart and was on two top 10 radio lists for the year – in New York City and Chicago, and was #7 on Deep Roots Magazine top 50 album list for 2012.

It is likely that the duo will have songs in at least one major motion picture in 2016. They’ve been asked by Major Studio Partners in NYC, who has financed films such as Superman II and The Devil Wears Prada, to write music for upcoming films.

The most recent Twanger news is that Mike has signed an administrative publishing with Universal for all their territories in Asia. Mike has had several cuts in Korea, including a near million-selling #1 hit. More of his songs are due to be released in Korea this autumn.

The music of the Twangtown Paramours can be heard on over 70 Americana, Folk, and Independent Country radio stations world- wide. Their songs can be previewed at www.twangtownparamours.com.
