Patricia Winn Slayton, 84, of Portsmouth, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2015.

Patricia was born in Peterborough to Edward and Madeline (Foley) Winn on April 15, 1931. Patricia grew up in Harrisville, attended Keene High School, and graduated from Keene Teachers College.

Patricia married Marshall Thomas Slayton of Keene, and they had three children. Patricia taught third grade at Little Harbour School in Portsmouth for many years. She often spoke of her fond memories of teaching and of her third grade students.

Patricia enjoyed traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Patricia’s quick wit, sense of humor, and caring ways will always be remembered.

Patricia is survived by her three children: Jane Slayton and her husband Keith Pfeifer of Andover, Thomas Slayton of Manchester, and Ted Slayton and his wife Lisa of Dover. Patricia is survived by her three grandchildren: Patrick Slayton, Madalyn Pfeifer, and William Slayton. She is also survived by her sister Elizabeth Thayer of New Castle. She is preceded in death by her brother Laurence Winn. She leaves behind many special friends and family members.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Wadleigh House of Dover and Edgewood Centre of Portsmouth. Patricia will remain in our hearts forever.

Memorial visitation was held at J. Verne Wood Funeral Home’s Buckminster Chapel in Portsmouth on November 12. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Corpus Christi Parish at Immaculate Conception Church in Portsmouth on November 13.
