people - deaths - 160114 woodJosephine (Griffin) Connors Wood, 94, died on January 14, 2016 at the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen.

She was born in Medford, Massachusetts on February 24, 1921, the daughter of Joseph and Marion (West) Griffin. She lived in Billerica, Massachusetts and worked at the Massachusetts Golf Association in Boston before moving to North Sutton, where she and her first husband owned and operated the Follansbee Inn from 1965 to 1978.

They moved to East Andover in 1978, and she worked at the New London Hospital as a cashier in the business office for over 25 years. From 1994 to 2012, she lived in North Carolina, moving to the Peabody Home in Franklin in 2012 and then to the Merrimack County Nursing Home in 2015.

Josephine was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Potter Place. She enjoyed the ocean, knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, reading, and jigsaw puzzles.

She is predeceased by her first husband, Lester Connors, who died in 1982; and by her husband, Curtis Wood, who died in 2005. She is also predeceased by two siblings, Edward Griffin and Marion MacKinnon.

She is survived by a son and his wife, Lester J. and Rachael Connors of Somersworth; three daughters: Joanne Connors and her partner Sue Jordan of Northfield, Kathryn and her husband Howard Hazen of Franklin,  and Patricia Connors and her fiancé Jeffrey Newcomb of East Andover; a stepson and his wife, Richard and Sandra Wood of Bethlehem, Connecticut; 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; a brother, James Griffin of Medford, Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on January 19 at Immaculate Conception Church in Potter Place. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, East Andover, in the spring.
