Andover Service Club Thrift Shop

Community support provides scholarships and more

Gisela Darling, Andover Service Club

The Andover Thrift Shop has been in business for over 15 years. Started by members of the Andover Service Club, it has provided a valuable service to the community.

It is the major fund raiser for the Andover Service Club, and most of the money raised provides scholarships given on an annual basis to college-bound students. In addition, the Andover Service Club supports other organizations and projects in the local area.

The Thrift Shop provides a place for the community to bring clothes for re-sale, either consigned or donated. It is also a resource for clean, second-hand clothing at reasonable prices.

In recent years, as other thrift shops have opened locally, the Andover Thrift Shop has faced increased competition in the market and has seen its income decline. In order for the Thrift Shop to stay open and be profitable, we need support and help from the community, either bringing in clothing or just visiting and possibly making a purchase.

Please keep this in mind as you choose where to shop or to bring your consignment. We will all benefit if we work together in the community, and are very grateful to all who have in the past supported our efforts and our fundraising for various local projects.

Currently we have available an excellent assortment of winter clothing for the whole family. Please stop in, visit us, and see our new jewelry case which displays our jewelry items to better advantage.

During the month of February the Thrift Shop will have its annual “Red Clothing Sale.” Any item in a shade of red with a colored tag attached will be 50% off.

The Thrift Shop is staffed by volunteers who are always looking forward to your visit. Our hours are Tuesday and Thursday, 10 AM to 4 PM; Wednesday, 3 to 5 PM (winter) or 7 PM (summer); Saturday, 10 AM to 2 PM.
