Press release

MAKIN’ ROOM” FOR YOU

On Saturday, April 16 at 7 PM, area students will be performing the musical, MAKIN’ ROOM at the First Baptist Church in New London. This original adaptation is being produced by a group of young actors and film makers who want to raise awareness and funds for those suffering from the challenges of homelessness in our communities.

Earlier this winter, the youth of several churches got together for the Homeless Awareness Project to sleep out on the front lawn of the First Baptist Church in an effort to bring the issue of homelessness to the forefront of our awareness. The students raised $6,000. and the funds have been dedicated or donated to several shelters and homeless initiatives in the area. This musical play is another creative endeavor by the youth to find ways to meet some of the critical needs of homeless people on the streets and in shelters.

Please join their efforts. The price of admission, for this lively and poignant show, is an item or two from the donation suggestions below. All proceeds and donations will be distributed to those living on the streets or in shelters in the surrounding area. (Items need to be small and sealed for individual use.)
