US House, Democrat, Ann Kuster

Opinion - Op Ed - KusterAs co-founder of the Bipartisan Task Force to Combat the Heroin Epidemic, I helped lead the fight to pass 18 bills in the House to address the opioid crisis. These bills were combined into the final Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act, which recently became law and will help open new treatment facilities, provide resources for law enforcement and other stakeholders on the ground, and expand programs to fight the epidemic.

I also worked with local stakeholders, as well as my colleagues in Congress, to open a new community college campus that will serve 500 students annually.

Finally, I helped secure a $200 million low-interest loan from the federal government so that New Hampshire can improve its roads and bridges, bringing new jobs to our state and boosting our local economy.

As your representative, I work every day to bring people together so that we can end the gridlock and dysfunction in Washington. I will continue fighting for increased funding to help end the opioid epidemic devastating our families and communities.

Through my leadership on the House Veterans Affairs Committee, I will continue advocating for Granite State veterans, so that they receive the care they have earned and deserve without having to travel long distances, and I will continue coordinating with local stakeholders to end veteran homelessness.

Finally, we must level the playing field for women and families by addressing pay equity, family leave time, and access to affordable childcare and healthcare.
