Andover Outing Club Shines at Home, Away Meets

Andover Outing Club (AOC) kids all improved at our first home meets, which went off without a hitch. The day saw two long-standing girl’s records broken, with Jazlyn Perkins setting a new mark on the K10 with a 5-meter jump and Sophie Reynolds broke the record on the K18 with a 10.5-meter jump. Both records had previously been held by Samantha Veasey. (K18 means that the jump is designed so that a jumper can safely jump 18 meters before the hill starts to level out.)

AOC Results

Jazlyn Perkins was 1st for the K10 girls, Katie Bent was second, Eliza Guiliani was 3rd, and Emma Pine was 4th.

For the K10 boys, Mark Roberts was 1st with a 5.5-meter ride, and Bode Fanjoy was second.

On the K18, Sophie Reynold’s two jumps of 10.5 meters led the day.

Cross Country Skiers: Matt Reynolds, Dave Reynolds, Henry Johnstone, Sophia Reynolds, Jake McKerley, Mark Roberts, Carl Hubbard, and Warren Bartlett.

In the boys U11 (under age 11) group, Dave Reynolds led the field with an 11-meter jump. Jake McKerley was close behind, edging Matt Reynolds with better style points. Noah King was 5th.

On the K38 jump, Hopkinton’s Ian McCluskey won the high school class with a long ride of 33.5 meters. AOC’s Warren Bartlett was close behind with two jumps of 31 meters.

Nordic Combined

Nordic Combined means jumping and cross-country skiing in one event. It was the first race for many of the skiers.

The first race of one lap was won by Sophie Reynolds with a time of 3 minutes, 18 seconds. Mark Roberts was ten seconds back, and Jake McKerley was 3rd.

In the second race of two laps, Caleb Gilbert of Salisbury, Connecticut was first with 5:28. Dave Reynolds and Matt Reynolds finished right together at 7:18 and 7:19.

The third race of three laps saw Carl Hubbard winning in 6:59, with Henry Johnstone of Carlisle, Massachusetts second in 7:25.

The only high school skier, Warren Bartlett of Bishop Brady, finished four speedy laps in 6:41.

Lebanon’s Three Hill Meet

Here are the AOC results from February 3:

On the K10, Sophie Reynolds again won the girl’s meet with a winning combination of distance and style. Emma Pine had her best day jumping, in third place.

In the boy’s K10 – U11 event, Matt Reynolds edged Noah King by half a point.

In the K25 – U11 event, Dave Reynolds jumped to third place with two jumps of 14 meters, and Jake McKerley was fourth with 10.5 meters.

On the big K50 hill, AJ King was fourth with a a 30-meter jump, and Warren Bartlett was sixth with 29 meters.

In the senior class, AOC’s Matt Doyle won convincingly with two jumps of 46 meters.
