LRGH Installs Med Safe Drug Take Back Box

Press release

LACONIA, NH – Do you ever have left over prescription medications that you do not know how to dispose of? LRGHealthcare is pleased to share that earlier this week, a Medsafe Drug Take Back box was installed at Lakes Region General Hospital.

Earlier this year, LRGHealthcare committed to Granite Health’s Zero Left Campaign to implement initiatives throughout the year to help raise awareness and reduce the amount of excess prescription opioids in New Hampshire.

Excess prescription and over-the-counter drugs can pose a serious risk in one’s home. The Medsafe box is a secure metal drop box which will provide a safe way to properly dispose of them, thereby protecting the environment and water supply, as well as reducing the risk of accidental overdose, intentional misuse, or the development of addictions.

“The ability to easily dispose of unused / unneeded medication serves to strengthen the well-being of our community; fulfilling a part of our mission!” states Paul Barrett, Director of Pharmacy Operations for LRGHealthcare.

The Medsafe box is located at LRGH in the hallway between the main lobby and atrium.
