The 1990 novel about the Vietnam War, “The Things They Carried” by Tim O’Brien, will be discussed at the Andover Book Club on Wednesday, January 24.  According to a 2010 Washington Post review, ” Many people think this is the best work of fiction ever written about Vietnam. Some even think it is the best work of fiction ever written about war. Both are right, and they were right 20 years ago when this book came out for the first time.”  The Book Club meets at 7 p.m. on the 4th Wednesday of each month at the Bachelder Library, 12 Chase Hill Road in East Andover, and welcomes all who enjoy reading and discussing books.  Copies of the book are available through inter-library loan at the library; for more information call the Bachelder Library at 735-5076.
