Dozens of Kids Enjoy AF&G Ice Fishing Derby

20” pickerel takes top prize

The Andover Fish and Game Club (AF&G) held the Willis Nowell Memorial Kids Ice Fishing Derby this year on February 23. It was a nice day on Eagle Pond in Wilmot, and 33 kids and their families were ready to have some fun. Besides fishing, the kids were treated to free hot dogs and drinks, lucky prizes, and trophies for the longest fish. Seventeen pickerel and six perch were caught. Trophy winners for each type of fish were:

Rabies Clinic

There are two upcoming events in the spring. The AF&G will be hosting a Rabies Clinic at the East Andover clubhouse on Channel Road on Saturday, April 20, from 1 to 2 PM. The cost is $13 per pet.

The Kids Spring Fishing Derby will be held on Saturday, May 18 on the Highland Channel. More information will be provided for these events in the next issue of the Beacon.
