Dear Friends of the Canaan Meetinghouse Readings,
A much too protracted winter seems to have shifted precipitously into summer today, so it seems time to distribute the dance card for the 2018 Canaan Meetinghouse Readings. I am particularly pleased with the books and authors this year, and think that every one of the four weekly Readings in July (and one in August) seems exciting. If you want a jump on the summer, the Canaan and Lyme library will have all the 2018 books in stock, and they will also be on sale at the Norwich bookstore. (If you buy them now, the authors will sign them at Canaan).
I urge you to dig into some of these books if you’re able, and please join us at the Meetinghouse this summer and enjoy this diverse array of great authors.

MacArthur: Heart Spring Mountain” (fiction). MacArthur’s previous book of
short stories, Half Wild, was a finalist for the 2016 New England
Book Award, and chosen by Barnes & Noble as a “Discover Great
Writers” book
Aug, 2:
Lloyd Schwartz: Little Kisses (poems); Author of three previous books of poetry,
Schwartz is the classical music commentator for NPR’s Fresh Air
and the winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism.
Joan Silber: Improvement“fiction); Winner of the 2017 National Book Circle
Critics Award in Fiction, and Winner of the 2018 PEN/Faulkner
Award. Silber is the author of six previous highly acclaimed books
of fiction.
All readings start at 7:30 at the Meetinghouse, Canaan Street, Canaan, NH.
The Norwich Bookstore will sell current and past books by each author at the Meetinghouse.
