Andover Service Club Begins a New Year

By Mary Ofenloch

As we ring in the New Year, the ASC has planned its monthly meetings including a very special program for each. On January 9, there will be a cookbook exchange. Members bring their favorite cookbooks and/or recipes to exchange with one another. On February 13, Lt. Heidi Murphy of NH Fish & Game will give a presentation on NH wildlife.

Meetings are held at 10 AM in the Highland Lake Grange Hall. Since we are now in the winter season, weather can be a problem. The rule the ASC follows on snowy and/or icy days states if Andover schools are closed on meeting day, the meeting is cancelled. However, if there is a 1 or 2 hour delay, the meeting is not cancelled. All women (young, old, or in-between) are invited to join us.

The ladies of ASC wish to thank all of our friends, neighbors, and supporters who participated in ASC events and fundraisers during the past year, such as the Slices for Scholarships fundraiser on July 4, Christmas in October at the Jingle Bell Fair, the Thanksgiving Pie Sale, the Gifts Galore baskets raffle, and the many bake sales throughout the year. Income from these events benefits the ASC Merit Scholarship Program and the many local community organizations which ASC financially supports. The success of our efforts depends upon the generous participation and donations of the public. Raffle winners will be announced in the February issue of the Beacon. It is not too late to purchase a last-minute gift or two at the ASC Thrift Shop. You can find new or gently used clothing for every member of the family as well as jewelry and accessories for very low prices. Store hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 10 AM – 4 PM, Saturday hours are 10 AM – 2 PM.

The members of ASC wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year. Stay safe, everyone, on these cold and stormy days!
