Old Man Winter Cancels January Andover Service Club Meeting

By Mary Ofenloch

A winter storm with snow and freezing rain last January 9 forced the cancellation of the monthly meeting which was scheduled for that morning. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, February 13 at 10 AM in the Highland Lake Grange Hall in East Andover. The special program for the meeting will be presented by Lt. Heidi Murphy of NH Fish & Game on NH Wildlife. Women of all ages are invited to attend. Refreshments will be provided by the Hostess Committee.

In this 60th anniversary year of the ASC, more new members are welcome and needed. Volunteer workers are necessary for success of the work of the committees. Most important among these are the Thrift Shop, Fundraising, Bake Sale, and membership on the Executive Board.

A requirement to be a volunteer in the Thrift Shop is membership in the ASC. If you like meeting people, helping them to purchase new or gently used clothing, or if you can spend one afternoon sorting and pricing these clothes, join us.

If you enjoy baking all manner of cakes, cookies, breads, muffins, etc, we need your expertise for our bake sales, pie sales, and fundraisers.

When the ASC sponsors events such as the Christmas in October craft sale or the Slices for Scholarships fundraiser, Thanksgiving Pie Sale, and bake sales, volunteers are needed to man the tables and make the sales.

All of these volunteer positions are fun as well as being necessary for a successful event. The mission of the ASC is to be of service to the community. This includes financial support.
Therefore, why not attend our next meeting on February 13, meet the ladies, see what the ASC is all about, and you will get to know the best and nicest women who enjoy helping people and serving the community they love.
