The Franklin Animal Shelter, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping dogs and cats in the Lakes Region, is announcing the beginning of their 2022 spring fundraising season. The shelter, which saw a brief closure to the public due to renovations at the end of 2021, continues to provide care and assistance to abused, neglected, and unwanted dogs and cats in the greater Franklin area.
To better serve the community of Franklin and surrounding towns, the shelter has begun its spring fundraising efforts with a goal of raising at least $20,000 over the next four months through a combination of grants, fundraising events, and community donations.
“The need for the services our shelter provides has never been greater,” says Jeff LeBlanc, marketing coordinator for the shelter. “With spring coming, we expect to have many more kittens showing up on our doorstep very soon. We plan to use these funds to provide the best care possible to all the dogs and cats that come to us.”
The shelter is planning three major fundraising events this spring. The first is their Lucky Paw 50/50 raffle, in which 200 tickets will be sold at $50 a ticket, making for a winning ticket of up to $5,000. Note that taxes will be withheld prior to payout.
Tickets can be purchased online at the shelter website, in person at the shelter, or at Wyatt’s Family Restaurant in Franklin. The winner will be drawn live during the Franklin Community Day on May 14, 2022 in Odell Park.
The second is the eighth annual 5K Run/Walk event, scheduled for the weekend of May 29 at the Paul Smith Elementary School in Franklin and sponsored by Watts Water Technologies. This year, the event will be held live at 9 AM on Sunday, May 29. This event is held in cooperation with Millennium Running.
The third event is the fourth annual Golf Tournament, being held on Monday, June 20 at the Lochmere Country Club in Tilton. Local businesses can sponsor a hole for $150, giving each one a sign at a different hole on the day of the event. For those wanting to play, early bird pricing of $115 per player is available until April 30th, after which the price goes up to $125 per player. The shelter particularly would like to see local first responders come out to play this year.
Both the 5K and golf events are currently looking for sponsors and participants. Information for all events can be found on the shelter’s web page at franklinanimalshelter.com/events.
