Andover Community Church News for April 2023

Holy week services; egg hunt

By Donna Thompson

Hello everyone, I don’t  know about you but we are ready for warmer weather!

First of all, we would like to thank everyone who has donated clothing in our clothing shed. Last year over 20,000 pounds was donated. Broken down, that means we helped over 3,000 people. Thank you so much and please let’s continue helping with this great mission.

For February and March we have been collecting money to help the Syria/Turkey earthquake victims.

We continue with our weekly mission in Franklin helping the homeless. We are currently meeting at Trestle Park from 4 – 5:30 PM, where we offer food, clothing, prayer, and great listening ears. This ministry has been going strong for over five years. We are currently seeking another building to work out of until the weather warms up (brrrr!). We have a loyal following and want to be there for them no matter what.

Sunday mornings at Andover Community Church continue to be busy. Along with our normal services at 9:30 AM, Godly Play, a montessori-styled hands-on curriculum, is offered for children in elementary grades and under. Kids sing with their families, go upstairs to their class, and return at “the Peace” and take communion with their families. There are always lots of goodies at fellowship hour with an adult discussion study on a book of the Bible following. Throughout the season of Lent, A Service of Public Healing is offered each Wednesday at noon. If you need prayer or know someone who needs prayer please join us. We welcome visitors and seasoned Anglicans alike.

Holy Week Services: We begin Holy Week with Palm Sunday (April 2), and continue through the week with Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services (both at 7 PM). Join us Easter Sunday on Taunton Hill at 6 AM, a free breakfast at 8 AM at the Highland lake Grange Hall, Easter Egg hunt at 8:45 AM, and a Family Service at 9:30 AM!.

Finally, we are proud to continue to support the Twin River’s Interfaith Food Pantry and the pantry in Franklin, along with hosting the Third Friday Andover Coffee House gatherings. We sell foods, drinks, and baked goods. All the money we make goes towards fixing up the Grange Hall. If you haven’t come please join us to enjoy the food and the wonderful entertainment.
