Local Author Talks About Her road to Becoming a Writer

Amy Makechnie has authored several novels

Press release

Amy Makechnie, the author of several novels for middle-school readers, will talk about her experience of going from being a teacher and soccer coach to becoming a published writer on Wednesday, April 19, 7 PM, at The Andover Community Hub. The free event is open to the public and refreshments will be served.

As Makechnie has learned, extraordinary fiction can be written using the events of ordinary life.  Her novels, The Unforgettable Guinevere St. Clair, Ten Thousand Tries, and the forthcoming The McNifficents (June 2023) deal with events she’s encountered in her own life in a small town and have been published by Simon and Schuster.

A former anatomy and physiology teacher at Proctor Academy, Amy still loves teaching and writing about the human body, as well as inspiring others to write their own stories.

The Andover Hub is located at 157 Main St. and is universally accessible.
