KNP Korner — April

Press release

Kearsarge Neighborhood Partners (KNP) is a nonprofit dedicated to building a community where neighbors help each other flourish. We collaborate with over 40 community partners serving 10 towns in the Kearsarge region, matching the needs of neighbors with committed volunteers who can help in short-term or longer-term situations.

“Deep roots never doubt that spring will come” (Marty Rubin). And KNP never doubts that its volunteers, community partners, and donors will help people in the Kearsarge community flourish! Good things are in the planning, and we’re very excited about all that spring will bring: transportation opportunities for youth and seniors, garden veggies growing for Tray it Forward, and a KNP Summer Gathering on the calendar.

We have some very excited students and seniors who are beginning to experience amazing opportunities to which they would not have had access without KNP drivers! What a pleasure to partner with the New London Barn Playhouse youth education program by transporting Kearsarge region students to both an after-school Shakespeare program and an upcoming Spring Break theater week.

A team of KNP volunteers has also been actively brainstorming a variety of ways we can bring
socialization and outdoor experiences to our local seniors. Stay tuned!

Save the date: KNP’s Summer Gathering is June 28, from 5:30 to 7 PM, at the Phillips
Barn at the New London Historical Society. Volunteers, community partners, donors — however you are related to the KNP “neighborhood,” we want to make sure you are available for the KNP Summer Event. We look forward to a very special evening of thanking you for all you do to help the Kearsarge region flourish!

When we all have enough to eat the entire community is healthier! KNP, Spring Ledge Farm, Colby-Sawyer College, the Kearsarge Food Hub, and the New London Hospital are collaborating on the fifth annual Tray it Forward vegetable seedling program, which helps folks learn to garden and to produce some of their own fresh food all summer. The program is officially underway, as seeds are ordered and planted, sample garden diagrams are drawn, plant tray labels get printed, online registration and donation pages are created, and a How to Start a Garden video is produced.

Sign up to help with various tasks before or during the May 29 seedling distribution day, at
KNP: Tray it Forward 2024 Volunteer Opportunities (signupgenius.com).
