Library Friends Build Volunteer Base

Come help with library events

Press release
New logo for the Friends of the Andover Libraries

Our two Libraries are a vital community asset. The new Friends of the Andover Libraries’ (FOALs) goal this summer is to promote and build a strong base of volunteer support for the Andover Public and W. A. Bachelder Libraries. FOALs is committed to helping our libraries meet the diverse needs of our community and open doors to lifelong learning and discovery for everyone.

It is an exciting time to become a Friend and there are many ways to offer your support and a helping hand with the numerous activities, programs, and events being offered at both libraries throughout the year. Check out the Andover NH Libraries Facebook page for the current offerings and upcoming opportunities.

FOALs brochures are now available at both libraries and the Hub, and you are invited to fill out the Friends volunteer form to indicate the ongoing volunteer opportunities you would be interested in. The completed Friends volunteer contact information form in the brochure may be returned to either library. If you prefer to receive the volunteer form electronically, please email your request to libraryfriendsgroupandover@nullgmail.com.

It is a rewarding experience for individuals and their families to serve their larger community and “many hands make light work.” Please contact us at the above email address if you are able to assist with the upcoming Book Sale in the following ways:

  •         Come by the Bachelder Library on Monday, July 1, between 4 and 6 PM and July 2, 4 PM (if needed) to load boxes of donated books to a waiting trunk and unload the books onto designated tables in the Stone Chapel at Proctor.
  •         Volunteer to take a 1- or 2-hr. shift at the July 4 Book Sale checkout table, accepting donations, 7 AM – 2 PM.
  •         Assist with stacking boxes of unselected books at the close of sale, July 4, 2 PM.
  •         Remove boxed books from Stone Chapel to a designated truck on July 5, 9–10 AM.

If interested in the set-up or to volunteer for a shift at the Mini Golf Course, contact Library Director Michaela Hoover, at andovernhlibraries@nullgmail.com regarding your availability.

We look forward to all the Fourth of July festivities, including family fun at the “Putting for Programs” Mini Golf course, July 3–July 6, and finding “treasures” at the annual Book Sale in Proctor’s Stone Chapel on July 3, from 5–7 PM, and July 4, from 7 AM–2 PM. These two annual events are major fundraisers for the libraries and provide for programs, projects, and the purchase of additional library items on our “wish list.” We welcome your participation at both!

A kick-off Friends of the Library event and membership drive is being planned for this fall.
