East Andover — Karin Joyce Forsberg died unexpectedly in Lebanon, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, on June 25, 2024, at the age of 83. Karin was born on October 25, 1940, in Midlothian, Illinois, to Karin F. (Soderstrom) and John Y. Forsberg. Karin graduated from high school in 1958.

After moving to New York City, Karin began working for Eastern Airlines as a reservationist. She moved back to New Hampshire following the death of her father to live with and care for her mother. 

Once in New Hampshire, she and her mother worked as housekeepers for many residents of New London and the surrounding area. They also worked as a team to bake and provide fruit pies for Spring Ledge Farm Stand in New London.

Karin was accomplished at drawing, painting, knitting, and woodworking. Among her many accomplishments, she carved a carousel horse imbued with the symbols of New Hampshire. She also created a full-scale rocking horse, complete with mane and bridle. Her paintings and carousel horse have been displayed at the Tatewell Gallery in New London. 

She also built a barn, sunk two wells, and raised cows, pigs, sheep, and chickens. She loved extended car trips with friends to the country’s national parks. 

She was a good-natured person and loyal friend who loved the outdoors and animals, particularly horses, cats, and German Shepherds. She was passionate about reversing the trend of breeding Shepherds with sloping hindquarters in order to bring back the straight-backed characteristic of the breed.

Karin was an active and dedicated member of the First Congregational Church in Wilmot.
Karin is predeceased by her parents, Karin F. and John Y. Forsberg, East Andover; brother, Richard J. Forsberg, Chicago; and niece Kerry (Forsberg) Zimdars, of Mundelein, Illinois.

Surviving family members include her sister, Marilyn (Forsberg) MacDonald, Winchester, Massachusetts; her nieces, Karin (MacDonald) Round and husband William of Lynnfield, Massachusetts; Lynne E. (MacDonald) Brenner and husband Allen of Key Largo, Florida; Susan (Forsberg) Mullen, Lake Village, Indiana; and Deborah (Forsberg) Boyle, Cartersville, Georgia. She is also survived by many loving, extended family members.

A funeral was held on July 11, at First Congregational Church of Wilmot, with a reception following at the church. Rev. Debb-Ellen Brown and Rev. Kathleen Alger officiated the ceremony.
