Deborah Aylward’s View from Concord – July

By Deborah Aylward

I believe it is vitally important to bring to light the results of certain House roll call votes for important bills considered this past term. I’m hoping these startling results will cause voters, especially independents, to sit up and take notice of what is actually happening in Concord, to the detriment of young innocents and freedoms that we cherish — and Republican efforts to stop all the madness.

CACR17, sponsored by Republicans, relates to parental rights, and provided that the fundamental right to direct the upbringing, education, and care of their minor children is that of their parents. 100% of House Democrats supported Inexpedient to Legislate.

– A vote for Inexpedient to Legislate is a vote to all but extinguish the inalienable role parents are to have in their minor children’s  lives. The motion of Ought to Pass failed because it lacked the necessary three-fifths vote.

HB1419 relative to prohibiting obscene or harmful sexual materials in schools, sponsored by Republicans. 99.45% of House Democrats supported Indefinitely Postpone.

A vote for Indefinitely Postpone is a vote to kill legislation that sought to protect minor children as young as kindergarteners from exposure to age-inappropriate material in school. Though the content was deemed too offensive to read on the House floor, it is readily available in elementary school libraries! Unfortunately, the bill died after becoming subject to indefinite postponement.

Note: Please tell me, on what planet is this type of despicable imagery OK for minor children to view? Who would promote robbing impressionable young children of their innocence by making perverted material available in schools? Who believes promoting crimes against children is appropriate?

HB1050, sponsored by Democrats, was relative to establishing a voluntary waiver of the right to purchase a firearm. 96.15% of House Democrats supported Ought to Pass.

A vote for Ought to Pass is an appalling attempt to allow the government to permanently inventory gun owners and their guns. Notwithstanding serious invasion of privacy concerns, the bill imperils the 2nd Amendment rights of gun owners and  subjects them to the potential for governmental surveillance. Fortunately, the bill died after becoming subject to indefinite postponement.

Note: As the only District 5 candidate endorsed by the National Rifle Association in 2022, I am strongly opposed to this proposal.

SB501 sponsored by Senate Democrats relates to granting driver licenses to noncitizens residing in New Hampshire. 100% of House Democrats supported Ought to Pass.

A vote in favor of ought to pass is a vote to allow illegal aliens to obtain drivers licenses and to grant individuals in our country illegally privileges reserved for legal citizens and residents. Thank heavens, the bill was vetoed by the Governor. Hopefully, the veto will not be reversed on Veto Day.
