Proctor/Andover Liaison Committee Resumes Pre-COVID Work

Goals are to improve communication and collaboration

By Scott Allenby

ANDOVER-Since its inception in 1848, Proctor Academy has been inextricably linked with the Town of Andover, benefitting from the commitment of the Town to ensuring a safe, engaging, beautiful place to live and learn. In 2001, Proctor and Town Officials decided to form the Andover/Proctor Liaison Committee to encourage dialogue and a shared partnership between the two entities in stewarding our shared community.

Over the last 23 years, members of this committee have worked to meet three times each year in an effort to review matters affecting both the Town of Andover and Proctor Academy, improve communications and collaboration between the two entities, and understand how Proctor contributes to the town’s finances through taxes, use and maintenance of shared facilities, and other contributions to the town. After a brief hiatus during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Andover/Proctor Liaison Committee re-committed to this work last summer.

With leadership transitions at Proctor, Andover Elementary/Middle School, and in the role of Town Administrator over the past year, the work of this committee and its impact on an effective town/academy relationship is more important than ever. Committee meeting times and agendas will be shared through the Town Offices, and meetings are held in the Proctor Stone Chapel.
