ANDOVER-As you read this edition of The Beacon, Proctor Academy’s new students and many of its faculty will be in the White Mountains on Wilderness Orientation. For the past 54 years, Proctor has commenced the academic year with a five-day backpacking trip into the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and this year’s 120 new students will join that rich tradition of launching the school year on Wilderness Orientation, after they arrive on September 1.

In total, 391 students will attend Proctor this year. Among those new students are 64 ninth graders, including nine Andover students. In all, 30 students from Andover will attend Proctor this year. The student body this year includes students from 26 different states, three federally recognized tribal nations, and 14 countries. A remarkable 34 current students had parents attend Proctor as well!
