Lorna Carlisle – Candidate for Democratic State Representative

Merrimack District 5

By Lorna Carlisle

As a child of Depression Era parents, and as a single parent myself, I understand the struggle of working-class families and the importance of spending money wisely. My first job, at 15, was picking drops at the local apple orchard in Webster.

I retired from my sales career in 2021. While working full time, I also ran a farm stand for 18 years. I’ve lived in Salisbury since 2004. I believe we should be building and improving our communities, supporting our neighbors, and serving when we can in whatever capacity we can.

Lorna Carlisle, Democratic candidate for State Representative for Merrimack District 5.

Over the years, I have served on the Recycling Committee, Budget Committee, and Community Power Committee. It’s an honor to help out on the Andover Senior Lunches.

My objective, if elected, is to reduce property taxes, restore ‘bodily autonomy’, support teachers and improve Public Education, and promote legislation which will maintain our rural communities while fighting climate change.  As a farmer, I have seen the dramatic changes in weather patterns, lack of snow fall, droughts, followed by severe rain/flooding events, and high temperatures that go on for more than a week.

Future generations depend on us to hand them a better world. Let’s do this for our children, grandchildren, and communities. I look forward to earning your vote.
