Laconia, NH – Joyce B. (Daughen) Austin Thomas, 93, passed away on September 10, 2024 at the Belknap County Nursing Home in Laconia.

She was born in Danbury on July 13, 1931, the daughter of Vincent and Eleanor (Hamilton) Daughen. She graduated from Andover High School in 1949. She folded stockings for the Manchester Hosiery Mill and then managed a trailer park in Concord. Joyce and her husband, Albert Austin, managed the Sandy Beach Campgroud in Belmont, and worked for Tram in Winnisquam for a couple of years. She worked for Northern Tel in Concord for 20 years. Joyce had been employed by the New Hampshire State Office of Emergency Management for eight years retiring in 1998. She went back to work for the State part time from 2000 – 2002. 
 
Joyce lived in Danbury, Manchester, Ashland, and many years in Concord and Whitefield before moving to Gilford in 2014. She spent the last four years as a resident at Belknap County Nursing Home. She had been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Joyce enjoyed old cars, reading, and traveling.
 
She is predeceased by her husbands, Albert Austin and Sherman Thomas. Joyce is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Ellis of Gilmanton; sons, Gary Austin of Windsor, Vermont, Jerry Austin of Ascutney, Vermont, and Barry Austin of Windsor, Vermont; seven grandchildren, Tina, Jeremy, Jamie, Heidi, Timmy, Justin, and Violet; several great grandchildren; her brother Keith Daughen of Danbury; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
 
In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her brother Wayne Daughen.
 
Her family would like to thank the staff at Belknap County Nursing Home for the care they provided to her over the four years.
 
Calling hours were at the Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main Street, New London, NH on Friday, September 13, 2024. A graveside service was held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, in Riverdale Cemetery, Danbury.
