New London —  Renowned American poet, Brian Turner, will deliver a public reading at Colby-Sawyer College on Thursday, October 10, from 4 to 5 PM in the Archives room of the Susan Colgate Cleveland Library (541 Main Street, New London, NH). The reading is free.

An award-winning poet, memoirist, and musician, Turner will read from his most recent trilogy of books: The Wild Delight of Wild Things (2023), The Goodbye World Poem (2023), and The Dead Peasant’s Handbook (2023). Turner’s poems and essays have been published in The New York Times, The Guardian, National Geographic, and Harper’s, among many other distinctive journals. 

Turner’s work was also featured in the documentary film Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience, which was nominated for an Academy Award. In addition to his Guggenheim Fellowship, he has received a USA Hillcrest Fellowship in Literature, the Amy Lowell Traveling Fellowship, the Poets’ Prize, and a Fellowship from the Lannan Foundation. 

Turner’s poems have been translated into 11 languages. He lives in Orlando, Florida, with his dog, Dene. Poet Luis Alberto Urrea has said of his work, “Luminous, haunting, and gorgeous, Brian Turner’s new collection can change how we see this wounded world. It’s an act of grace.”
