Thursday’s Child Dinners To Benefit Wilmot Organizations

Press release

The Wilmot Community Association (WCA) and the Wilmot Learning Place (WLP) will participate in a Thursday’s Child fund-raising event starting at 5:30 PM on Thursday, November 15 at the New London Inn, 353 Main Street in New London.

The WCA, a non-profit dedicated to serving all members of the community, was established in 1963. It will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2013. The WLP was established in 1964, and for all of its 48 years, the preschool has been housed in a building owned by the WCA.

“So with nearly 100 years of affiliation, it is particularly appropriate that the WCA and the WLP collaborate on a fund-raising event such as Thursday’s Child at the New London Inn,” said Patricia McGoldrick, executive director of the WCA.

Those who want to support the WCA and the WLP should make reservations directly with the New London Inn. Diners may opt for the Sargent Room for a casual dining atmosphere, or for the main dining room for a more formal ambiance. Menu selections are the same in each room.

Fifty percent of the net proceeds from meals purchased that evening by supporters of the WCA and the WLP will benefit the two non-profit organizations.

“This evening event is a great opportunity for friends to get together for a fun and festive night out,” said Rosanna Dude, president of the WLP board of directors. “What a terrific way to benefit two wonderful organizations!”

“The Wilmot Learning Place and the Wilmot Community Association not only share a building, but they also share the goal of creating a wonderful and vibrant Wilmot community for everyone in Wilmot,” Rosanna said. “The long-term relationship between the WCA and the WLP ensure that Wilmot has a thriving present and future.”
