Dear AEMS Family,

Tonight is Open House for 5th – 8th grade families. The evening begins at 6:30 pm in the gym with introductions, followed by open classrooms, and then back to the gym to win fabulous prizes. There are new staff members to meet and information to be shared. I hope to see you tonight!

Our overall school enrollment K-8 is 236 students. We have had several students move out of district and we have gained several new families. Currently our largest classes are in K-4.

School Picture Day is Wednesday! Packets have been sent home with students. All students are photographed for school records but it is up to families whether they want to purchase picture packages or not. All students will receive a class picture. Pictures will be delivered in time for Christmas.

Salad Bar will start in October. We needed some extra time to transition thirty-three kindergarten students into the lunchroom process. We are making good progress!

If anyone is having trouble setting up a lunch account on “My School Bucks” please let us help you.

Free and Reduced lunch paperwork has been sent home with all students. Please do not hesitate to ask for help as the forms can be quite complicated. Free and Reduced lunches can be applied for at any time during the school year.

If you haven’t sent in a summer vacation photo it isn’t too late. Send pictures to Ms. Unger at hunger@nullaemseagles.org.  It has been lots of fun seeing the photos on the flat screen in the lobby. You will have a chance to view at both Open Houses.

Our school bus drivers have enjoyed the start of the new year and are getting to know your children. The bus drivers are; Bus #1-Christine Mitchell, Bus #2-Lynn Calvino, Bus #3-Ed Becker, and Bus #6-Joelle Gibson. Please be at bus stop early.

Fire Prevention Week is October 7-10. Members of the Andover Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services will spend the day at AEMS on Monday, October 7th. The day is always educational and exciting and all students in kindergarten through eighth grade learn from the experience. We appreciate all that our rescue personnel do for our school and community.

Thank you to the Harbour family for the generous donation of wood chips for the primary play structure area.

The AEMS soccer team is off to a great start. The next home game is September 19th at 4:30 when Goshen-Lempster comes to town. Our XC runners have their first meet at MVHS on Monday at 4:00. Come out and support your Eagles!

Lindsey Allenby is organizing a soccer program for kindergarten-aged children. Please contact her for more information or to be included. allenbyli@nullproctornet.com

If you have an abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables from your garden please consider sharing with AEMS.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thanks!
