Dear AEMS Family,

Tonight at 7:00 is the Public Hearing on the Andover School District Budget for next year. The Hearing will be held in the downstairs meeting space of the Andover Town Building. All are welcome to attend.

This morning was a surprise…and a LATE surprise. The decision to have a two hour delay was based on the slippery conditions on back roads. Several of us were at school and ready to accommodate students in case the message had not been received. The delay message on WMUR Channel 9 will be corrected for Andover and not refer to “morning” kindergarten in the future.

We definitely appreciate John Champagne and his crew this winter. They have put a lot of effort into sanding, salting, and plowing. This has been a difficult ice mess to keep up with the last few weeks.

The NH Department of Health and Human Services has reported an increase in flu activity as well as noro virus which is a gastrointestinal illness; sudden onset of vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramping, nausea and may be accompanied by fever and headache.  Symptoms usually last 12-60 hours. Children who have a fever (>100), vomiting and/or diarrhea should not come to school and should not return until they have been symptom free for 24 hours. We constantly disinfect high traffic areas and remind students to wash hands frequently. With flu season upon us and news reports of increased noro virus activity, please remember to call Mrs. Frost at 735-5500. It is important that she track illness in the building.  You can also communicate with Mrs. Frost by sending a message to  cfrost@nullaemsaeagles.org.

Please send skaters with longer socks this Friday. There were a few blisters at the end of the day. The longer socks will help. In spite of a few blisters it did appear that a good time was had by all!

Nick Fairall, our ski jumping olympian, will be at AEMS on Friday morning for our students and staff to wish him luck and let him know how proud we are of his efforts. I think our younger students will have lots of helpful advice to share with Nick. We are still hopeful that Chris Lamb and Kris Freeman will be competing in Sochi.

Attached is ticket information for the January 31st Monarchs Hockey game. Our middle school chorus will sing at the game. We will be taking a bus to transport the chorus and will also be able to fit interested families too.

The Lost and Found collection is growing. If you are missing items please stop in.

Students will be skiing and skating on Friday. Please contact Ellie George with any concerns or suggestions regarding the ski program.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call.

Sincerely,

Jane Slayton
