Clinton Wayne Patten, January 17, 2014

Clinton Wayne Patten died January 17, 2014. He was born on March 9, 1931 in East Andover, the son of Harold and Florence (Tenney) Patten. He attended Andover and Franklin High Schools.

He lived on the Concord Heights for over 63 years; living on East Sugar Ball Road and then Pembroke Road since May 1976.

He worked for the State of New Hampshire Highway Department, Brezner Tannery, Concord Lumber (20 years), Bank of New Hampshire (now known as TD Bank) as a courier; most recently, part time for Concord Union School District as a bus monitor and special needs van driver.

He was married to Maxrene (Dale) Patten for 58 years prior to her passing in 2008.

He leaves his son and daughter-in-law, Past City Councilor and State Representative Richard (Dick) and Debra Fournier Patten; his daughter, Miss Debra Patten, Concord; his sister-in-law, Mrs. Irene Spaulding, Concord; his brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Martha Patten, Salisbury; sister-in-law, Katherine Patten, Salisbury; adopted grandchildren, Juan Aceros, Jacksonville, Florida; Christopher Hillsgrove, Exeter; Jennifer Boulay, Troy; James Lord Jr., Florida; Tyler Martel, Concord; his several grandchildren; nieces and nephews; cousins, including Robert Patten, Bristol; Kenneth Patten, Alexandria; Albro Patten, Concord. He leaves several grand-nephews and nieces. He also leaves close friends Mrs. Janice Boynton, Dunbarton; Mrs. Geraldine Marquis Harrington, Concord; John Lorden, Webster; and Mrs. Veronica Fournier, Concord.

He was predeceased in addition to his wife, Maxrene by his daughter, Sandra Lee; his parents, Harold and Florence Patten; brother, Clement Patten; sisters, Thelma Patten and Evelyn Hoyt.

He was a 45-year member and Past Master of Concord Grange #322; member of Merrimack County Pomona Grange, New Hampshire State Grange, and National Grange. He served as a member of the State Grange Membership Committee and Past Director for the New Hampshire State Grange Agriculture Committee.

He was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Concord and served on the Concord Christmas Parade Committee for 40 years.

He loved his summer camp that he built with his wife Maxrene in York, Maine on Scituate Pond; the road was named after the family. He always loved gardening at his home, on Pembroke Road. He would take numerous vegetables grown in his garden to neighbors. He enjoyed country music, especially Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson. He also enjoyed watching Boston Red Sox baseball. His favorite college football team was the Nebraska Cornhuskers, although the Michigan Wolverines were a close second. He enjoyed eating meals at Windmill Restaurant and Veano’s Italian Kitchen, Pembroke and Makris Seafood. He and his late wife enjoyed square dancing at Fortune’s Barn, Bradford, or Daniel Webster Grange Hall.

Calling hours were held on January 19 at Bennett Funeral Home in Concord. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on January 20, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church with Reverend Raymond Ball celebrating. Burial followed at Blossom Hill Cemetery. There was a gathering in the Parish Hall at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church following the burial.
